Addendum 101 — The Enclosing Relation Before Quantum Representation

Interference, Measurement, Entanglement, and Relativity as Consistent Boundary Reads

Abstract

Recursively Realized Distinguishability (R²D) defines an enclosing boundary, its distinguishable macrostates, and its compatible possible subordinate realizations before any particular realization is occupied. A macrostate transition is therefore not constructed by a collection of independently acting subordinate transitions. The enclosing transition defines the class of subordinate realizations compatible with it.

At the quantum readability horizon, subordinate geometric distinctions are no longer readable as persistent state identities at the enclosing quantum boundary, while recurrence remains readable. Quantum theory consequently cannot be interpreted, within R²D, as a direct observation of the subordinate objects or trajectories presumed to explain the enclosing quantum occurrence. Such objects, when projected beneath the readability horizon, are imagined physical representations rather than independently readable primitive states.

This does not invalidate quantum physical laws within the boundaries where their quantities are defined and experimentally tested. It establishes a limit on what those laws demonstrate about subordinate ontology. R²D cannot reconstruct an unreadable subordinate mechanism from the enclosing observation, nor can it derive the quantitative laws of quantum physics by assigning causal agency to imagined subordinate objects.

This addendum consolidates a four-way consistency result. Interference, measurement, entanglement, and relativistic propagation admit mutually compatible physical representations of the same enclosing-first recursive architecture. Interference is a phase-dependent read of enclosing recurrence. Measurement realizes a new count classification through recursive replacement. Entanglement is the nonseparable representation of a prior joint enclosing relation. Relativistic propagation is a calibrated physical read within a receiving spacetime boundary.

These four readings need not describe one simultaneously occupied count domain. They belong to distinguishable boundaries and physical operations, all governed by the same principle: the enclosing relation defines compatibility before subordinate realization.

The purpose is not to derive quantum or relativistic laws. It is to demonstrate their conditional consistency with R²D’s existing count definitions, replacement ontology, and enclosing-first causal ordering, while specifying what remains beyond the information available at the quantum horizon.

101.1. The Limit of Quantum Explanation

Quantum physics successfully predicts experimentally readable relations among quantum states, detector outcomes, recurrence frequencies, electromagnetic fields, and other calibrated physical quantities.

These successful physical predictions do not, by themselves, establish the primitive existence of the subordinate objects often imagined to explain them.

R²D begins with a different ontology.

At a selected count boundary \(B_n\), distinguishable macrostates are defined by the boundary. Their multiplicities count possible compatible subordinate realizations:

\[ \boxed{ W_{n,i}=|\pi_n^{-1}(i)|. } \]

A realized macrostate replaces subordinate state identities as the operative occupied classification.

The subordinate configurations possess microstate meaning relative to the enclosing boundary, but their individual distinctions are not simultaneously readable as independently occupied states at that boundary.

Changing resolution changes the count domain.

The replacement is physical in the R²D ontology, not merely a change in an observer’s information.

Consequently, a physical description of a subordinate object cannot simply be projected beneath an observed enclosing quantum state while retaining its identity as an independently occupied primitive constituent.

At the quantum readability horizon,

\[ \boxed{ (\lambda_Q,\nu_Q)=(U,R), } \]

where subordinate continuous distinguishability is unreadable and recurrence remains readable.

The unresolved subordinate realizations remain possible. Their specific state identities cannot be reconstructed as persistent objects from the enclosing quantum readout.

R²D therefore distinguishes three things:

  1. A mathematically defined class of possible subordinate realizations.
  2. A physically realized enclosing quantum state or occurrence.
  3. An imagined subordinate object introduced to explain that occurrence.

The first two belong to the R²D count architecture.

The third is an interpretation that exceeds the readable evidence when it assigns persistent primitive identity to the replaced subordinate state.

A physical object may be real and readable at its own measurement boundary. What is not established is its continued identity as an independently occupied object beneath another realized enclosing classification.

The distinction is ontological, not a rejection of experimentally successful mathematics.

R²D does not derive quantum laws by reconstructing subordinate objects. It asks whether quantum laws are consistent physical representations of enclosing relations whose subordinate realization structure is unreadable.

101.2. The Enclosing Transition Defines Its Possible Histories

Part I defines the compatible subordinate realization domain of an enclosing occurrence.

For a readable enclosing transition class \(\chi_{n+1}\),

\[ \boxed{ \chi_{n+1}^{(r)} \Longrightarrow (\mathcal C_{n,a})_{a\in I_n} \in\mathfrak D_{n+1,\chi}. } \]

The compatibility class belongs to the enclosing boundary.

Its subordinate realizations do not independently generate the enclosing occurrence.

Recursive carry provides the complementary classification:

\[ \mathcal C_{n,a} \overset{\kappa_n}{\mapsto} \chi_{n+1}^{(r)}. \]

This changes count meaning. It does not invert causal priority.

A single readable macrostate transition can therefore possess many compatible possible subordinate transition histories.

Those histories are possible realizations of the enclosing transition. They are not necessarily separately occupied occurrences, nor are they independently observable primitive mechanisms.

This provides a direct comparison with Feynman’s sum-over-histories formulation.

Feynman’s mathematical construction assigns amplitude contributions to alternative possible histories. Its predictive success does not require every history to be interpreted as a simultaneously occupied classical trajectory.

In R²D, the more primitive statement is that the enclosing transition defines its compatible realization class before any quantum phase-amplitude representation is assigned.

The relevant ordering is

\[ \boxed{ \begin{gathered} \text{Defined enclosing transition}\\ \Downarrow\\ \text{Compatible possible subordinate histories}\\ \Downarrow\\ \text{Recursive realization and replacement}\\ \Downarrow\\ \text{Readable enclosing recurrence}. \end{gathered} } \]

The quantum horizon prevents the individual subordinate histories from being recovered as continuously readable trajectories of the same occupied quantum state.

Their possible multiplicity is not their simultaneous occupancy.

Their imagined object identities are not the causal agency organizing the observed transition.

101.3. Interference Is a Representation of Enclosing Recurrence

Addenda 72 and 81 establish the relevant R²D interpretation of quantum phase and interference.

A boundary-native recurrent relation admits a cyclic representation

\[ e^{i\phi}. \]

The complex phase is a mathematical coordinate of recurrence. It is not a primitive particle, a subordinate trajectory, or recurrence itself.

In the conventional quantum representation, two unresolved contributions to the same enclosing read may be written

\[ \psi_a=A_ae^{i\phi_a}, \qquad \psi_b=A_be^{i\phi_b}. \]

When the applicable quantum representation uses coherent amplitude addition,

\[ \psi_Q=\psi_a+\psi_b, \]

the measured realization weight is

\[ \boxed{ |\psi_Q|^2 = A_a^2+A_b^2+ 2A_aA_b\cos(\phi_b-\phi_a). } \]

The interference term is a relative-phase relation within the projected quantum representation.

It does not establish that two subordinate particles, trajectories, or independently occupied histories acted upon one another to produce the detector occurrence.

The enclosing quantum state is defined first.

Its unresolved compatible realization class is already determined by the enclosing relation.

The phase-amplitude construction represents its physical recurrence read after subordinate geometric identity has crossed the readability horizon.

This is a consistency result, not a derivation of superposition or the path-integral law from primitive R²D counting.

The amplitude-addition rule and numerical physical phases belong to the quantum projection.

Interference is consistent with enclosing-first causation because the quantum amplitude represents a prior enclosing recurrence relation rather than a collection of subordinate causes.

101.4. Measurement Replaces the Occupied Count Boundary

Interference concerns a quantum relation before previously unresolved alternatives become separately readable in a new measurement classification.

Measurement changes that situation.

Let \(B_Q\) denote a quantum recurrence boundary and \(B_D\) a detector boundary.

The enclosing measurement relation \(B_M\) defines their joint compatibility:

\[ \boxed{ B_M\Longrightarrow\{B_Q,B_D\}. } \]

The detector has its own mathematically defined macrostate landscape before measurement.

When a detector outcome \(D_i\) is physically realized, a new occupied count classification has been established.

This is recursive replacement.

The measurement does not merely disclose which previously hidden subordinate trajectory was always occupied within the unchanged quantum state.

That would import coarse-graining into the R²D ontology.

Instead, the newly readable detector distinction replaces the prior occupied classification where the measurement changes the operative count boundary.

The principle is illustrated in Addendum 100 by a ten-coin ensemble.

An occupied enclosing 5:5 macrostate has

\[ W_{5:5}=252. \]

Complete identification of all ten subordinate coin states replaces that occupied enclosing classification with one resolved configuration:

\[ \boxed{ W_{\mathrm{resolved}}=1. } \]

The original 252 possibilities remain mathematically defined. They are no longer the multiplicity of the occupied realization.

The corresponding quantum consistency mapping begins with realized detector counts

\[ c_{D,i}. \]

Normalize their relative occurrence measure:

\[ \mu_D(i)=\frac{c_{D,i}}{\sum_jc_{D,j}}. \]

The conventional quantum prediction is represented by

\[ p_D(i)=\operatorname{Tr}(\rho_QE_i). \]

Consistency requires the two physical reads to agree when they describe the same calibrated measurement boundary:

\[ \boxed{ \mu_D(i)=p_D(i). } \]

This does not derive the Born rule from an imagined microscopic measurement process.

It requires consistency between an established quantum representation and realized R²D detector counts.

A conventional conditional quantum-state update follows the newly readable outcome. It is not a primitive wavefunction collapse that constructs that outcome.

Measurement is a new boundary-defined realization, not recovery of an unchanged subordinate object.

101.5. Entanglement Is the Read of a Joint Enclosing Boundary

Entanglement presents the same causal-ordering problem at a joint boundary.

Consider two locally distinguishable systems \(A\) and \(B\).

R²D does not begin with two independently complete primitive objects and subsequently seek a physical mechanism connecting them.

It begins with the enclosing compatibility relation

\[ B_{AB}. \]

That relation defines the possible joint realization of its peers:

\[ \boxed{ B_{AB}\Longrightarrow\{B_A,B_B\}. } \]

The local classifications are boundary-relative reads of the enclosing joint relation.

In the conventional quantum projection, a joint state is represented by

\[ \rho_{AB}. \]

Entanglement means that this state cannot be represented as a convex mixture of independently factorized local states:

\[ \rho_{AB} \ne \sum_k p_k \rho_A^{(k)}\otimes\rho_B^{(k)}. \]

The local reduced density operators,

\[ \rho_A=\operatorname{Tr}_B\rho_{AB}, \qquad \rho_B=\operatorname{Tr}_A\rho_{AB}, \]

are incomplete local representations of the joint relation.

Their mathematical availability does not require independent primitive occupancy of the local state identities alongside the occupied joint classification.

This is the quantum counterpart of recursive replacement.

Joint statehood is defined before independently complete local descriptions.

The same quantum representation can satisfy no-signaling.

For complete local measurement classifications \(\{E_i^{(a)}\}\) and \(\{F_j^{(b)}\}\),

\[ p(i,j\mid a,b) = \operatorname{Tr} \left[ \rho_{AB} (E_i^{(a)}\otimes F_j^{(b)}) \right]. \]

Summing over Bob’s outcomes gives

\[ \boxed{ p(i\mid a,b) = \operatorname{Tr} \left[ \rho_{AB} (E_i^{(a)}\otimes I_B) \right]. } \]

The local marginal does not depend on Bob’s remote setting.

This is a consistency property of the adopted quantum representation.

It does not require a signal to traverse the spatial separation between two detectors, nor does it require independently predetermined subordinate outcomes beneath the joint state.

The enclosing relation owns the compatibility. The local detectors realize their own readable distinctions.

Entanglement is consistent with R²D because the joint relation is defined before its separately readable local outcomes.

101.6. Relativity Is the Physical Coordinate Read of an Enclosing Relation

The relativity development provides an independent example of the same invariant-first architecture.

Addendum 35 defines opposed multiplicative count coordinates

\[ Z_+,\qquad Z_-, \]

with invariant enclosing product

\[ \boxed{ Z_+Z_-=\ell_L^2. } \]

A change of enclosing rapidity reference changes the directional coordinates while preserving this product.

The resulting Lorentz geometry is a mathematical representation of the invariant enclosing relation.

Physical clock, ruler, and propagation calibrations come afterward.

The corresponding spacetime interval is

\[ d\tau^2 = dt^2-\frac{dx^2}{c_\Phi^2} \]

in one spatial dimension.

The relativistic coordinates are physical readings of the already-defined enclosing relation.

They are not its primitive source.

Part IV also distinguishes recursive carry from spatial propagation.

Recursive carry changes the count identity across adjacent boundaries. Spatial propagation describes the physical realization of an occurrence through its receiving spacetime or electromagnetic boundary.

The former is not a particle moving between scales.

The latter does not require reconstruction of the subordinate history replaced at the quantum horizon.

Relativistic quantum representations can preserve both the physical causal geometry and the Born transition measure when the appropriate physical transformation and localization conditions are supplied.

These are different invariants belonging to different aspects of the physical representation.

Lorentz covariance alone does not determine all admissible local quantum measurements. In particular, it does not by itself establish the causal localization of every proposed quantum operation.

That remains a physical consistency requirement, not a missing subordinate mechanism for R²D to reconstruct.

Relativity and quantum recurrence are compatible insofar as both represent enclosing relations through physical coordinates that respect the invariants of their respective boundaries.

101.7. The Four-Way Consistency Result

The four physical readings can now be stated as one recursive architecture.

Physical reading Enclosing relation defined first Physical representation
Interference Quantum recurrence and compatible alternatives Phase-dependent coherent amplitude
Measurement Quantum–detector compatibility New detector occupancy and conditional state update
Entanglement Joint peer compatibility Nonseparable quantum state and local marginal reads
Relativistic propagation Enclosing count and calibrated physical reference Lorentz-covariant spatial and temporal relations

The four representations do not require one persistent primitive particle or one simultaneously occupied state across all the boundaries.

Nor are they four independent causal explanations.

They apply the same R²D ordering to different physical readings:

\[ \boxed{ \begin{gathered} \text{Boundary-defined enclosing relation}\\ \Downarrow\\ \text{Compatible possible realizations}\\ \Downarrow\\ \text{Boundary-specific realization}\\ \Downarrow\\ \text{Physical coordinate or detector readout}. \end{gathered} } \]

The physical coordinate may be an interference amplitude, detector count, entangled-state representation, or relativistic spacetime coordinate.

None is required to be the primitive source of the enclosing count domain.

Conditional Consistency Proposition

Suppose the physical quantum representation supplies its experimentally established cyclic phase, Born realization measure, joint-state structure, and boundary-preserving transformation laws.

Suppose its relativistic projection also satisfies the applicable physical propagation and causal-localization conditions.

Then these representations can coexist without violating R²D’s boundary-indexed definitions of statehood, multiplicity, occurrence, or recursive replacement.

Interference does not require simultaneous occupancy of the contributing subordinate histories.

Measurement does not require recovery of an unchanged hidden trajectory.

Entanglement does not require independently complete local states to generate the joint state.

Relativistic propagation does not require recursive carry to represent spatial transport.

Thus the four readings are mutually compatible with one enclosing-first causal architecture.

This proposition establishes consistency under the stated physical mappings.

It does not establish the uniqueness of those mappings or derive their quantitative physical laws from Part I.

101.8. What R²D Can and Cannot Establish

The logical distinction is essential.

Established within the R²D count architecture

  • State identity is indexed to its defining count boundary.
  • An enclosing boundary defines the compatibility and multiplicity of its possible subordinate realizations.
  • Mutually exclusive macrostate multiplicities add; compatible joint possibilities compose multiplicatively under the enclosing restriction.
  • Recursive replacement changes the operative count identity.
  • The enclosing occurrence is causally prior to the compatible subordinate realization class it defines.
  • The individual subordinate identities replaced at an enclosing boundary are not simultaneously readable as independently occupied primitive states there.

Established as conditional consistency

The existing R²D physical program admits representations compatible with interference, detector realization, quantum entanglement, boundary-preserving unitarity, and relativistic propagation.

Within the standard quantum representation, these relations reproduce familiar mathematical consequences such as interference cross terms, normalized Born outcome measures, nonseparable correlations, and no-signaling for complete localized measurements.

Within the relativistic physical projection, Lorentz transformations preserve the corresponding spacetime invariant.

These are consistency demonstrations using calibrated physical representations.

Not established, and not required for the present R²D objective

This addendum does not reconstruct the unreadable subordinate quantum realization structure.

It does not establish independently existing trajectories corresponding to Feynman’s mathematical paths.

It does not derive arbitrary quantum amplitudes, the Born rule, Hamiltonian dynamics, entanglement statistics, electromagnetic propagation, or relativistic field interactions from primitive counts alone.

It does not demonstrate that the recurrence-weighted R²D law, without additional physical conditions, uniquely enforces the localization of every spacelike-separated quantum measurement operation.

Nor does it claim that the observable success of quantum physics establishes the object ontology often assigned to its mathematical representations.

The inability to recover subordinate objects is not an invitation to invent more detailed hidden mechanisms.

It is the boundary-relative limit that R²D explicitly identifies.

The purpose of the quantum reconstruction program is therefore to establish compatibility between the count architecture and established physical readings, not to derive those readings from presumed subordinate physical objects.

101.9. Conclusion — Representation Does Not Establish Primitive Agency

Feynman’s mathematical paths illustrate a more general problem in scientific explanation.

A physically successful mathematical representation can describe alternative possible realizations without establishing that those alternatives are independently occupied objects responsible for the observed transition.

R²D places the enclosing transition first.

Its compatible subordinate realization class is defined by the enclosing boundary.

At the quantum horizon, recurrence remains readable while subordinate geometric state identities have undergone recursive replacement. The subordinate realization histories cannot be reconstructed as persistent primitive trajectories from the enclosing quantum readout.

The resulting physical laws can still describe the observed world with extraordinary precision.

Interference represents enclosing recurrence through relative phase.

Measurement replaces the operative occupied count boundary with a newly readable distinction.

Entanglement represents a prior joint enclosing relation without requiring independently complete local primitive states.

Relativistic propagation represents physical motion and causal accessibility within a calibrated receiving boundary.

These are compatible physical readings of a common recursive causal architecture.

Their quantitative laws are not thereby derived from R²D, nor is their subordinate object ontology established.

The central result is

\[ \boxed{ \begin{gathered} \text{Enclosing statehood and compatibility}\\ \text{precede}\\ \text{quantum and relativistic representation}. \end{gathered} } \]

Physical laws describe what is readable at their defining boundaries. They do not establish the primitive causal agency of imagined subordinate objects that those boundaries have already replaced.

This is the distinction R²D contributes to the foundations of quantum physics: not another microscopic mechanism, but a mathematically defined limit on promoting a successful physical representation into an account of primitive causation.
