Addendum 43 — Horizon Multiplicity Occurs Before Planck-Area Calibration

Abstract

The Bekenstein–Hawking relation is conventionally written

\[S_H=\frac{A_H}{4\ell_P^2},\]

where

\[\ell_P^2=\frac{\hbar G}{c^3}.\]

This form invites a geometric interpretation in which a black-hole horizon possesses a physical surface area that is divided into Planck-sized elements, with the resulting number identified as entropy.

Recursively Realized Distinguishability (R²D) reverses that explanatory order.

A horizon is first a boundary-defined count domain. Within that count domain, macrostates are distinguishable and possess multiplicities

\[W_{H,i},\]

with logarithmic count coordinates

\[S_{H,i}=\ln W_{H,i}.\]

The boundary itself acquires a gravitational area projection,

\[A_i,\]

while the distinguishability between radially ordered macrostates acquires a radial projection,

\[r_i.\]

Thus area and radius do not play the same primitive role:

boundary \(\longrightarrow\) area,

whereas

distinguishability \(\longrightarrow\) radius.

This addendum considers the hypothesis that one adjacent radial macrostate distinction receives the physical calibration

\[\Delta r=\ell_P.\]

Planck length is then not a constituent of pre-existing space. It is the radial physical read of one distinguishable macrostate interval.

For spherical Schwarzschild projection,

\[A_i=4\pi r_i^2.\]

The Bekenstein–Hawking relation then calibrates the multiplicity associated with each radial macrostate:

\[S_{H,i}=\ln W_{H,i}=\frac{A_i}{4\ell_P^2}.\]

Therefore, for adjacent Planck-distinguished radial macrostates,

\[\ln\frac{W_{H,i+1}}{W_{H,i}}=\frac{A_{i+1}-A_i}{4\ell_P^2}.\]

Under complete-retention proportional realization,

\[\Delta P_{H,i}=\Delta R_{H,i},\]

so the local asymmetry vanishes and the relative occupancy structure reproduces the relative multiplicity structure:

\[\frac{c_{H,i+1}}{c_{H,i}}\approx\frac{W_{H,i+1}}{W_{H,i}}.\]

Hence

\[\frac{c_{H,i+1}}{c_{H,i}}\approx\exp\!\left[\frac{A_{i+1}-A_i}{4\ell_P^2}\right].\]

The exponential is therefore first a relative count relation. Probability appears only after normalization.

If

\[r_i=i\ell_P,\]

then

\[A_i=4\pi i^2\ell_P^2,\]

and one radial macrostate step gives

\[\Delta S_{H,i}=\pi(2i+1).\]

Summing these logarithmic occupancy or multiplicity increments across the radially distinguishable horizon domain gives

\[\sum_{i=0}^{N-1}\Delta S_{H,i}=\pi\sum_{i=0}^{N-1}(2i+1)=\pi N^2.\]

Because

\[r_H=N\ell_P,\]

this becomes

\[S_H=\pi\frac{r_H^2}{\ell_P^2}.\]

The spherical boundary projection is

\[A_H=4\pi r_H^2.\]

Therefore,

\[S_H=\frac{A_H}{4\ell_P^2}.\]

This is not presented as an independent derivation of the Bekenstein–Hawking law, because its area– multiplicity calibration has been used as physical input. Instead, the construction exposes what that law means in the R²D architecture.

The horizon “area” is the geometric read of a boundary-defined count domain. Radius is the read of distinguishability within that domain. Planck length calibrates the distinction between neighboring radial macrostates. The Bekenstein–Hawking exponential defines their relative multiplicities, and at complete retention those relative multiplicities are realized as relative occupancies.

Thus the horizon is not fundamentally tiled by Planck areas.

It is a recursively realized count domain whose mature Schwarzschild projection is area.

Therefore:

horizon multiplicity occurs before Planck-area calibration.

And more specifically:

Schwarzschild area is the geometric projection of a count domain [PDF abstract closing line clipped; author review required.]

1. Addendum 42 Leaves a Realized Horizon Boundary

Addendum 42 established the Schwarzschild exterior relation

\[N^2(r_A)=1-\frac{2\mu_G}{c^2r_A}.\]

The horizon occurs when

\[N^2=0.\]

Therefore,

\[r_H=\frac{2\mu_G}{c^2}.\]

The corresponding spherical area is

\[A_H=4\pi r_H^2=\frac{16\pi\mu_G^2}{c^4}.\]

At the same boundary, the R²D retention coordinate satisfies

\[q_H=1,\]

or

\[P_H=R_H.\]

The selected exterior static relation is completely retained.

Yet the boundary itself remains finite.

This gives the starting problem for the present addendum:

What is being counted at a finite completely retained gravitational boundary?

2. Complete Retention Is Not Horizon Multiplicity

Retention and multiplicity answer different questions.

Retention asks how much of an enclosing directional relation remains readable as retained distinguishability.

Multiplicity asks how many compatible realizations belong to a macrostate.

Thus

\[R_H\ne W_H.\]

Likewise,

\[q_H\ne S_H.\]

Every Schwarzschild horizon satisfies

\[q_H=1,\]

while Schwarzschild horizon entropy varies with the gravitational mass scale.

Complete retention therefore does not determine multiplicity.

3. The Horizon Is First a Count Boundary

Let

\[B_H\]

denote the horizon boundary.

The boundary defines a count domain

\[D_H.\]

Within that domain are readable horizon macrostates

\[i\in\mathcal M_H.\]

Each macrostate possesses multiplicity

\[W_{H,i}.\]

Its entropy coordinate is

\[S_{H,i}=\ln W_{H,i}.\]

The multiplicity landscape belongs to the boundary-defined count domain.

It is not created by the later geometric coordinate used to represent the boundary.

4. Boundary and Distinguishability Have Different Physical Reads

A central distinction is required.

The horizon boundary receives the gravitational geometric read

\[B_H\longrightarrow A_H.\]

A distinction between radially ordered macrostates receives the radial coordinate read

\[\lambda_{H,i\to k}\longrightarrow\Delta r_{i\to k}.\]

Thus area and radius do not arise from the same primitive quantity.

Area reads the boundary.

Radius reads distinguishability.

This is the R²D meaning of area before radius.

5. Area Is Not Primitive Surface Substance

The Schwarzschild quantity

\[A_H\]

is a mature gravitational coordinate.

R²D does not require the primitive horizon to be a two-dimensional material surface.

The prior object is the count domain defined by the horizon boundary.

Thus

\[D_H\longrightarrow A_H,\]

not

\[A_H\longrightarrow D_H.\]

The geometric area is how the boundary becomes readable in the Schwarzschild projection.

6. Radial Macrostates Are Distinctions Within the Count Domain

Now consider an ordered family of horizon macrostates

\[i=0,1,2,\ldots.\]

The labels do not identify physical material shells.

They identify distinguishable alternatives within the horizon count domain.

Let adjacent macrostates satisfy

\[i\longrightarrow i+1.\]

The physical radial read of that distinction is

\[\Delta r_i.\]

7. Candidate Planck Radial Calibration

The hypothesis explored here is

\[\Delta r_i=\ell_P\]

for one elementary adjacent radial distinction.

Thus

\[r_i=i\ell_P\]

relative to the chosen radial reference.

This does not mean that background space is constructed from Planck-length segments.

It means

one macrostate distinction \(\longrightarrow\ell_P\)

under the quantum–gravitational radial calibration.

The count distinction remains prior.

8. Planck Length and Planck Area Must Not Be Confused

Planck length is

\[\ell_P=\sqrt{\frac{\hbar G}{c^3}}.\]

Planck area is

\[\ell_P^2=\frac{\hbar G}{c^3}.\]

In the present construction these enter different projected relations.

The radial distinction is calibrated through

\[\ell_P.\]

The boundary multiplicity is calibrated against area through

\[\ell_P^2.\]

Thus

\(\ell_P\longleftrightarrow\) radial distinction,

whereas

\(\ell_P^2\longleftrightarrow\) areal multiplicity calibration.

Neither is assumed to be a primitive constituent of space.

9. Spherical Projection Assigns an Area to Each Radial Macrostate

Under spherical symmetry,

\[A_i=4\pi r_i^2.\]

Using

\[r_i=i\ell_P,\]

gives

\[A_i=4\pi i^2\ell_P^2.\]

This area is the boundary-coordinate read associated with radial macrostate i.

10. Bekenstein–Hawking Supplies the Multiplicity Calibration

The physical Bekenstein–Hawking relation is

\[S_{H,i}=\frac{A_i}{4\ell_P^2}.\]

R²D separately defines

\[S_{H,i}=\ln W_{H,i}.\]

Therefore,

\[\ln W_{H,i}=\frac{A_i}{4\ell_P^2}.\]

Equivalently,

\[W_{H,i}=\exp\!\left(\frac{A_i}{4\ell_P^2}\right).\]

This is a physical calibration of multiplicity.

It should not be read causally as area creating states.

11. The Logical Direction Remains Count First

The conventional reading can suggest

\[A_i\longrightarrow S_i\longrightarrow W_i.\]

R²D reverses the ontology.

The primitive order is

\[B_H\longrightarrow W_{H,i}\longrightarrow S_{H,i},\]

followed by the physical correspondence

\[S_{H,i}\longleftrightarrow\frac{A_i}{4\ell_P^2}.\]

Area calibrates the gravitational read of the count.

It does not cause the count.

12. Adjacent Horizon Macrostates Have a Multiplicity Ratio

For two neighboring radial macrostates,

\[i\quad\text{and}\quad i+1,\]

their entropy difference is

\[\Delta S_{H,i}=S_{H,i+1}-S_{H,i}.\]

Therefore,

\[\Delta S_{H,i}=\ln\frac{W_{H,i+1}}{W_{H,i}}.\]

Using the physical area calibration,

\[\Delta S_{H,i}=\frac{A_{i+1}-A_i}{4\ell_P^2}.\]

Hence

\[\frac{W_{H,i+1}}{W_{H,i}}=\exp\!\left[\frac{\Delta A_i}{4\ell_P^2}\right].\]

13. The Exponential Is First a Count Ratio

The relation

\[\frac{W_{H,i+1}}{W_{H,i}}=e^{\Delta S_{H,i}}.\]

contains no probability assumption.

It follows immediately from

\[S=\ln W.\]

Thus the exponential first restores a multiplicative possible-count ratio from its additive logarithmic coordinate.

Probability can appear only after those counts are normalized.

Therefore:

multiplicity ratio \(\longrightarrow\) normalized probability,

not

probability \(\longrightarrow\) multiplicity.

14. This Is the Same Architecture Underlying Boltzmann Weighting

Boltzmann weighting has the generic structure

\[\frac{c_k}{c_i}=e^{\Delta G_{i\to k}},\]

where the exponential restores a multiplicative occupancy ratio from a logarithmic count difference.

The horizon relation has the same count architecture:

\[\frac{W_{H,i+1}}{W_{H,i}}=e^{\Delta A_i/(4\ell_P^2)}.\]

The conventional physical coordinate differs.

The logarithmic-count architecture does not.

15. Multiplicity and Occupancy Remain Different Counts

Let

\[c_{H,i}\]

denote realized occupancy of horizon macrostate i.

Then generally

\[c_{H,i}\ne W_{H,i}.\]

Multiplicity is possible-count structure.

Occupancy is realized structure.

R²D does not collapse them.

16. The General Occupancy Relation

For a readable macrostate transition,

\[i\longrightarrow i+1,\]

R²D gives

\[\Delta G_{H,i}=\Delta\tau_{H,i}+\Delta A_{H,i},\]

where

\[\Delta G_{H,i}=\ln\frac{c_{H,i+1}}{c_{H,i}}.\]

Under proportional occurrence realization,

\[\Delta\tau_{H,i}\approx\Delta S_{H,i}.\]

Therefore,

\[\Delta G_{H,i}\approx\Delta S_{H,i}+\Delta A_{H,i}.\]

17. Equilibrium Removes the Directional Occupancy Bias

For the stationary complete-retention branch considered here, suppose the adjacent radial macrostate comparison satisfies

\[\Delta P_{H,i}=\Delta R_{H,i}.\]

Then

\[\Delta A_{H,i}=0.\]

Therefore,

\[\Delta G_{H,i}\approx\Delta S_{H,i}.\]

Thus

\[\ln\frac{c_{H,i+1}}{c_{H,i}}\approx\ln\frac{W_{H,i+1}}{W_{H,i}}.\]

Exponentiating,

\[\frac{c_{H,i+1}}{c_{H,i}}\approx\frac{W_{H,i+1}}{W_{H,i}}.\]

This is the precise sense in which the equilibrium horizon occupancy realizes its multiplicity landscape.

18. The Horizon Occupancy Ratio Is Therefore Area-Calibrated

Using the Bekenstein–Hawking physical calibration,

\[\frac{c_{H,i+1}}{c_{H,i}}\approx\exp\!\left[\frac{A_{i+1}-A_i}{4\ell_P^2}\right].\]

The right-hand side is first a relative count weight.

Normalization is still not required.

19. The Planck-Distinguished Radial Landscape Gives an Exact Finite Increment

Using

\[r_i=i\ell_P,\]

the associated projected area is

\[A_i=4\pi i^2\ell_P^2.\]

Therefore,

\[\Delta A_i=A_{i+1}-A_i\]

is

\[\Delta A_i=4\pi\ell_P^2\left[(i+1)^2-i^2\right].\]

Thus

\[\Delta A_i=4\pi\ell_P^2(2i+1).\]

20. The Corresponding Logarithmic Multiplicity Increment

Divide by

\[4\ell_P^2.\]

Then

\[\Delta S_{H,i}=\pi(2i+1).\]

Therefore,

\[\frac{W_{H,i+1}}{W_{H,i}}=e^{\pi(2i+1)}.\]

And in the complete-retention proportional-realization limit,

\[\frac{c_{H,i+1}}{c_{H,i}}\approx e^{\pi(2i+1)}.\]

This is the discrete radial horizon occupancy relation.

21. Nothing Has Been Assigned to a Midpoint State

The result follows directly from

\[i\longrightarrow i+1.\]

There is no macrostate

\[i+\frac12.\]

There is no half boundary.

There is no additional radial coordinate.

The term

\[2i+1\]

appears only because

\[(i+1)^2-i^2=2i+1.\]

It is the exact finite difference of the spherical area projection between two adjacent radial macrostates.

22. The Horizon Count Accumulates Across the Radial Macrostates

Sum the logarithmic multiplicity increments:

\[\sum_{i=0}^{N-1}\Delta S_{H,i}.\]

Using

\[\Delta S_{H,i}=\pi(2i+1),\]

gives

\[\sum_{i=0}^{N-1}\Delta S_{H,i}=\pi\sum_{i=0}^{N-1}(2i+1).\]

The odd integers satisfy

\[\sum_{i=0}^{N-1}(2i+1)=N^2.\]

Therefore,

\[\sum_{i=0}^{N-1}\Delta S_{H,i}=\pi N^2.\]

23. The Same Sum Is a Telescoping Multiplicity Relation

Because

\[\Delta S_{H,i}=\ln\frac{W_{H,i+1}}{W_{H,i}},\]

we have

\[\sum_{i=0}^{N-1}\Delta S_{H,i}=\sum_{i=0}^{N-1}\ln\frac{W_{H,i+1}}{W_{H,i}}.\]

Therefore,

\[\sum_{i=0}^{N-1}\Delta S_{H,i}=\ln\frac{W_{H,N}}{W_{H,0}}.\]

The intermediate multiplicities cancel as ratios.

This is an accumulated count relation.

24. At Equilibrium the Same Sum Is Read Through Occupancy

Under complete-retention proportional realization,

\[\Delta G_{H,i}\approx\Delta S_{H,i}.\]

Therefore,

\[\sum_{i=0}^{N-1}\Delta G_{H,i}\approx\sum_{i=0}^{N-1}\Delta S_{H,i}.\]

Since

\[\Delta G_{H,i}=\ln\frac{c_{H,i+1}}{c_{H,i}},\]

the occupancy ratios telescope:

\[\ln\frac{c_{H,N}}{c_{H,0}}\approx\pi N^2.\]

Thus the accumulated logarithmic occupancy difference across the radially distinguishable macrostate domain realizes the accumulated multiplicity difference.

25. This Is the Relevant Sense in Which Occupancy Is Summed Across Radius

The primitive construction is not

\[A_H=\sum_i c_i.\]

Raw occupancies are not areas.

Rather, the additive quantity is the logarithmic occupancy difference:

\[\sum_i\ln\frac{c_{i+1}}{c_i}.\]

At equilibrium this reproduces

\[\sum_i\ln\frac{W_{i+1}}{W_i}.\]

The latter is the accumulated horizon entropy difference.

Thus Schwarzschild area is the geometric read of the boundary whose radially organized occupancy structure realizes this count landscape.

26. Recover the Horizon Radius

After N radial macrostate distinctions,

\[r_H=N\ell_P.\]

Therefore,

\[N=\frac{r_H}{\ell_P}.\]

The accumulated count becomes

\[S_H=\pi N^2,\]

or

\[S_H=\pi\frac{r_H^2}{\ell_P^2}.\]

27. The Boundary Projection Gives the Factor Four

The same count boundary is represented geometrically by

\[A_H=4\pi r_H^2.\]

Therefore,

\[\pi r_H^2=\frac{A_H}{4}.\]

Hence

\[S_H=\frac{A_H}{4\ell_P^2}.\]

The factor four appears when the radial distinguishability coordinate is mapped onto the spherical boundary projection.

It does not require four microscopic area tiles per entropy unit.

28. The π Is Part of the Spherical Area Relation

The remaining π is not introduced as an entropy circumference.

It enters because the boundary projection is spherical:

\[A=4\pi r^2.\]

When that area relation is divided by four,

\[\frac A4=\pi r^2.\]

Therefore

\[S=\pi\left(\frac r{\ell_P}\right)^2.\]

The π belongs to the area–radius projection.

It is not a new primitive R²D occurrence relation.

29. This Is Not Planck-Area Tiling

The construction contains no primitive statement that the horizon is composed of cells having area

\[\ell_P^2\]

or

\[4\ell_P^2.\]

Instead:

\[\Delta r=\ell_P\]

calibrates distinguishability,

while

\[S=\frac A{4\ell_P^2}\]

calibrates multiplicity against the boundary-area projection.

These are different mappings.

30. One Additional Microstate Is Not One Planck Area

Suppose a horizon macrostate has multiplicity W .

Adding one compatible realization would give

\[W\longrightarrow W+1.\]

The entropy change is

\[\Delta S=\ln\!\left(1+\frac1W\right).\]

Therefore its Bekenstein–Hawking area read would be

\[\Delta A=4\ell_P^2\ln\!\left(1+\frac1W\right).\]

For

\[W\gg1,\]

\[\Delta A\approx\frac{4\ell_P^2}{W}.\]

Thus one additional compatible realization does not correspond to one fixed Planck-area patch.

This independently excludes the literal-tile interpretation.

31. One Nat Is Also Not One Planck-Length Step

A one-nat multiplicity change is

\[\Delta S=1.\]

But the Planck radial macrostate step at index i has

\[\Delta S_i=\pi(2i+1).\]

Therefore

\[\Delta S=1\;\not\Rightarrow\;\Delta r=\ell_P.\quad\text{[PDF callout glyph clipped; author review required.]}\]

The radial count radix and the logarithmic multiplicity radix are different quantities.

This distinction is necessary for the later gravitational well-depth analysis.

32. Normalization Produces a Horizon Probability Distribution

Before normalization the relative horizon weights are

\[W_{H,i}=\exp\!\left(\frac{A_i}{4\ell_P^2}\right).\]

If a normalized macrostate probability is desired, define

\[Z_H=\sum_jW_{H,j}.\]

Then

\[p_{H,i}=\frac{W_{H,i}}{Z_H}=\frac{\exp[A_i/(4\ell_P^2)]}{\sum_j\exp[A_j/(4\ell_P^2)]}.\]

The normalized probability distribution therefore appears after the multiplicity landscape has already been defined.

33. The Boltzmann Architecture Is Now Explicit

The sequence is

boundary-defined multiplicity

\(\Downarrow\)

\[S_i=\ln W_i\]

\(\Downarrow\)

\[W_i=e^{S_i}\]

\(\Downarrow\)

\[c_i\propto W_i\]

at complete-retention proportional realization,

followed only afterward by

\[p_i=\frac{c_i}{\sum_jc_j}.\]

This is the same primitive statistical order underlying Boltzmann weighting.

34. The Atmosphere Is the Closest Readable Analogue

In an isothermal atmosphere, height labels distinguishable spatial macrostates.

Their equilibrium occupancy obeys

\[\frac{c(z_2)}{c(z_1)}=\exp\!\left[-\frac{mg(z_2-z_1)}{k_BT}\right].\]

The exponential does not create the atmospheric occupancy landscape.

It restores a multiplicative occupancy ratio from a logarithmic thermodynamic coordinate.

The horizon relation has the same architecture:

\[\frac{c_{i+1}}{c_i}\approx\exp\!\left[\frac{\Delta A_i}{4\ell_P^2}\right].\]

In both cases, spatially distinguishable macrostates are occupied according to a larger equilibrium count relation.

35. The Physical Coordinates Are Different

The atmospheric macrostate coordinate is read directly as height.

The horizon boundary is instead in the gravitational readability regime.

The boundary itself is read through area,

while its internal distinguishability is read radially.

Thus:

atmosphere: distinguishability \(\longrightarrow z\),

whereas

horizon: boundary \(\longrightarrow A\), distinguishability \(\longrightarrow r\).

The statistical architecture remains the same.

36. The Horizon Does Not Store a Labelled Catalogue

The multiplicity

\[W_H\]

does not require the horizon to store an independently readable label for every subordinate realization.

Recursive replacement removes subordinate path identity.

What remains countable is the degeneracy consequence.

Therefore,

subordinate identities lost \(\not\Rightarrow\) multiplicity lost. [PDF callout clipped; author review required.]

A horizon macrostate may possess enormous multiplicity even though its subordinate realization paths are unreadable from the enclosing boundary.

37. Horizon Entropy Is Not Background

The horizon state entropy is

\[S_H=\ln W_H.\]

R²D background is a different count relation,

\[\Phi_H=\ln b_H.\]

Therefore,

\[S_H\ne\Phi_H.\]

Likewise horizon state entropy is not automatically entropy production:

\[S_H\ne\delta\Phi_H.\]

A stationary horizon can possess large state multiplicity without producing Second-Law background merely by existing.

38. Horizon Entropy Is Not Retention

Likewise,

\[S_H\ne R_H.\]

At a Schwarzschild horizon,

\[P_H=R_H\]

describes complete retention of the selected static exterior relation.

It does not state the number of compatible horizon realizations.

Retention and multiplicity remain different primitive count relations.

39. Insert the Schwarzschild Horizon Area

From Addendum 42,

\[A_H=\frac{16\pi\mu_G^2}{c^4}.\]

Therefore,

\[S_H=\frac{16\pi\mu_G^2/c^4}{4\ell_P^2}.\]

Using

\[\ell_P^2=\frac{\hbar G}{c^3},\]

gives

\[S_H=\frac{4\pi\mu_G^2}{\hbar Gc}.\]

Thus

\[W_H=\exp\!\left(\frac{4\pi\mu_G^2}{\hbar Gc}\right).\]

40. Only Then Apply the Source Calibration

With

\[\mu_G=GM,\]

we obtain

\[S_H=\frac{4\pi GM^2}{\hbar c}.\]

Therefore,

\[W_H=\exp\!\left(\frac{4\pi GM^2}{\hbar c}\right).\]

This is the effective Schwarzschild horizon multiplicity implied by the semiclassical entropy calibration.

41. The Effective Multiplicity Need Not Be a Literal Integer Model

The Bekenstein–Hawking relation is semiclassical.

For arbitrary continuously parameterized M , the expression

\[W_H=e^{S_H}\]

should therefore be interpreted here as the effective multiplicity represented by the calibrated entropy.

This addendum does not claim to have constructed the underlying exact microscopic integer cardinality.

That remains a deeper physical problem.

42. Radial Discreteness Is a Separate Hypothesis

The proposed identification

\[\Delta r=\ell_P\]

is stronger than the Bekenstein–Hawking entropy law alone.

If exact at all horizon scales, it implies a discrete radial macrostate spectrum.

That physical claim should be tested independently.

The area law by itself does not prove it.

Thus the present addendum distinguishes:

\[S_H=\frac{A_H}{4\ell_P^2}\]

as established physical calibration,

from

\[\Delta r=\ell_P\]

as the candidate R²D radial-distinguishability mapping explored here.

43. What the Discrete Construction Shows

Conditional on

\[\Delta r=\ell_P,\]

the horizon count domain admits the exact sequence

\[r_i=i\ell_P,\]

\[A_i=4\pi i^2\ell_P^2,\]

\[S_i=\pi i^2,\]

and

\[\Delta S_i=\pi(2i+1).\]

The accumulated entropy is

\[S_N=\pi N^2.\]

The Schwarzschild area read is

\[A_N=4\ell_P^2S_N.\]

Thus the familiar area law is exactly compatible with a radial macrostate landscape distinguished in Planck- length steps.

44. Principle — Boundary Before Area

A gravitational horizon is first a count boundary.

Its area is the mature spherical coordinate through which that boundary becomes physically readable.

Therefore,

boundary \(\longrightarrow\) area projection.

Area is not the primitive thing that creates horizon states.

45. Principle — Distinguishability Before Radius

A radial coordinate measures a difference between distinguishable horizon macrostates.

Therefore,

macrostate distinction \(\longrightarrow\) radial projection.

Under the candidate quantum–gravitational calibration,

\[\Delta\lambda_H=1\quad\longrightarrow\quad\Delta r=\ell_P.\]

Planck length is therefore interpreted as a radial distinction calibration, not a constituent rod of space.

46. Principle — Multiplicity Before Probability

Each horizon macrostate possesses multiplicity

\[W_i.\]

The Bekenstein–Hawking physical calibration gives

\[\ln W_i=\frac{A_i}{4\ell_P^2}.\]

Relative macrostate weights are therefore

\[\frac{W_k}{W_i}=\exp\!\left[\frac{A_k-A_i}{4\ell_P^2}\right].\]

Only after normalization does this become probability.

Thus:

multiplicity \(\longrightarrow\) occupancy \(\longrightarrow\) probability.

47. Principle — Complete Retention Reveals the Multiplicity Landscape Through Occupancy

For a stationary macrostate relation satisfying

\[\Delta P_i=\Delta R_i,\]

the local asymmetry vanishes.

Under proportional realization,

\[\Delta G_i\approx\Delta S_i.\]

Therefore,

\[\frac{c_k}{c_i}\approx\frac{W_k}{W_i}.\]

At complete retention, occupancy reads the relative multiplicity landscape without an additional directional bias.

48. Logical Status

Canonical R²D

The following are already part of the R²D count architecture:

\[S_i=\ln W_i,\]

\[\Delta\tau_i\approx\Delta S_i,\]

and

\[\Delta G_i=\Delta\tau_i+\Delta A_i.\]

Therefore, under

\[\Delta A_i=0,\]

\[\Delta G_i\approx\Delta S_i.\]

Established Physical Input

Schwarzschild spherical geometry gives

\[A=4\pi r_A^2.\]

Bekenstein–Hawking thermodynamics gives

\[S_H=\frac{A_H}{4\ell_P^2}.\]

Candidate R²D Physical Mapping

The present addendum proposes

\[\Delta r=\ell_P\]

as the physical radial read of one elementary horizon macrostate distinction.

Conditional Consequence

If that mapping is correct, then

\[r_i=i\ell_P,\]

\[S_i=\pi i^2,\]

and

\[\Delta S_i=\pi(2i+1).\]

At complete retention,

\[\Delta G_i\approx\pi(2i+1).\]

Not Derived Here

This addendum does not derive:

• the numerical value

\[\ell_P=\sqrt{\hbar G/c^3};\]

• the Bekenstein–Hawking law independently of semiclassical gravity;

• the exact microscopic horizon states; • exact integer radial quantization; • Hawking temperature; • evaporation; • the Kerr or charged-horizon generalizations.

49. The Central R²D Deprojection

The conventional order is

black-hole area \(\longrightarrow\) entropy \(\longrightarrow\) microstates.

R²D instead reads the same physical relation as

boundary-defined count domain

\(\Downarrow\)

radially distinguishable macrostates

\(\Downarrow\)

\[W_i,\quad S_i=\ln W_i\]

\(\Downarrow\)

complete-retention realization

\(\Downarrow\)

\[c_i\]

followed by the physical projections

distinguishability \(\longrightarrow r\)

and

boundary \(\longrightarrow A\).

The geometric quantities come after the count architecture.

50. Conclusion

A Schwarzschild horizon should not be interpreted primitively as a surface tiled by Planck-area elements.

R²D begins one level earlier.

The horizon is a count boundary.

That boundary defines a domain of distinguishable macrostates.

The boundary itself is physically read through area:

\[B_H\longrightarrow A_H.\]

Differences among radially ordered macrostates are physically read through radius:

\[\lambda_H\longrightarrow r_A.\]

The possibility explored here is that one elementary radial distinction receives the physical calibration

\[\Delta r=\ell_P.\]

The Bekenstein–Hawking relation then supplies the physical multiplicity calibration

\[\ln W_i=\frac{A_i}{4\ell_P^2}.\]

For adjacent radial macrostates,

\[\frac{W_{i+1}}{W_i}=\exp\!\left[\frac{\Delta A_i}{4\ell_P^2}\right].\]

At complete retention, R²D proportional realization gives

\[\frac{c_{i+1}}{c_i}\approx\frac{W_{i+1}}{W_i}.\]

Thus the Bekenstein–Hawking exponential can be read as an equilibrium macrostate occupancy relation across a radially distinguished horizon count domain.

With

\[r_i=i\ell_P,\]

the spherical boundary projection gives

\[A_i=4\pi i^2\ell_P^2,\]

so

\[S_i=\pi i^2,\]

and one radial step gives

\[\Delta S_i=\pi(2i+1).\]

Accumulating across the radial macrostate domain,

\[\sum_{i=0}^{N-1}\Delta S_i=\pi N^2.\]

Because

\[r_H=N\ell_P,\]

this becomes

\[S_H=\pi\frac{r_H^2}{\ell_P^2}.\]

The same boundary is represented spherically by

\[A_H=4\pi r_H^2.\]

Therefore,

\[S_H=\frac{A_H}{4\ell_P^2}.\]

The factor four is therefore not evidence for four microscopic Planck-area pieces.

It is the relation between the radial distinguishability projection and the spherical boundary projection.

The area does not create the multiplicity.

The radius does not create the macrostates.

The Planck scale does not create the count domain.

The order is

boundary → count domain → macrostate distinction → multiplicity → occupancy → radial and areal projection.

Thus:

horizon multiplicity occurs before Planck-area calibration.

More specifically:

The Schwarzschild horizon area is the spherical projection of a boundary-defined count domain [PDF closing line clipped; author review required.]
